Administration of COVID-19 vaccine for people with prior COVID-19 infection

Hanoi, April 13, 2022

 

To:

- Health Departments of provinces and central-affiliated cities;
- Epidemiology Institutes, Pasteur Institutes;
- Health Department, Ministry of Public Security;
- Department of Military Medical, General Department of Logistics, Ministry of Defense;
(Hereinafter referred to as “Entities”)

On December 17, 2021, Ministry of Health promulgated Official Dispatch No. 10722/BYT-DP on primary and additional primary doses of COVID-19 vaccine. On March 30, 2022, the Ministry of Health held an online conference with international experts, organizations, and entities regarding administration of COVID-19 vaccine for persons with prior COVID-19 infection. On the basis of recommendations of World Health Organization, implementation experience of multiple countries and remarks of experts; the Ministry of Health hereby requests Entities to:

1. Continue complying with guidelines of the Ministry of Health under Official Dispatch No. 10722/BYT-DP dated December 17, 2021.

2. Delay administration of COVID-19 vaccination for children from 5 to less than 12 years of age with prior COVID-19 infection for 3 months. Health Departments shall cooperate with Departments of Education and Training in reviewing and producing list of children pursuing education and from 5 to less than 12 years of age for vaccination. Other details shall conform to guidelines of Ministry of Health under Official Dispatch No. 1535/BYT-DP dated March 28, 2022 on administration of COVID-19 vaccine for children from 5 to less than 12 years of age.
